Poésies blanches, inspiration du jardin japonais　～ 白い詩、日本庭園からの着想 ～

雪に覆われた静寂の庭園。凛とした雪上に射す日や月の光・・・
2014年10月～12月にヴィラ九条山レジデントとして、日本の金箔貼りの伝統技術や “ 引き算の美学 ” 等を学ぶことを目的とし京都に滞在したフランス人・金箔造形作家のマニュエラ・ポール＝カヴァリエ。
秋から冬へと移りゆく季節の中で、そんな冬の日本庭園の姿に感じた詩趣を “箔と胡粉” で表現した彼女の 「 Poésies blanches -白い詩- 」 を中心とした詩情ゆたかな作品を展示いたします。

又、本展覧会では、清課堂とマニュエラ、そして彼女と同時期にヴィラ九条山レジデントとして京都に滞在していたフランス人デザイナーのゴリアト・ディエーヴルとの三者のコラボ作品、光のオブジェ「Le petit théâtre de lumière」も展示。
本作品は日仏笹川財団の助成のもと、ヴィラ九条山の企画展として今年のフランスのデザインフェスティバルD’DAYSに出品し、デザイン専門誌AD MAGAZINE（仏）のベスト15に選ばれ、日本初公開となります。

マニュエラ・ポール＝カヴァリエ　プロフィール

金箔造形絵画作家。
フランス国立美術館の金箔修復師として10年間フィレンツェでその技術を学び、13世紀や18世紀のフランス、イタリアの古い技法を用い、現代的なアプローチで作品を制作。
又、インテリアデザイナーのために金に古色仕上げを施す等、自身の作品制作のみならず幅広く活躍。近年ではエルメス、ルイ・ヴィトンとのコラボレーション、そしてイヴ・サンローランのハイラグジュアリー・エディションとして香水ボトル50点に金箔を施すコラボレーションも行う。2014年10月～12月、ヴィラ九条山のレジデントとして滞在。

ゴリアト・ディエーヴル　プロフィール

コラボレーション作品・光のオブジェ「Le petit théâtre de lumière」デザイナー。
造形芸術に重点をおいた文系の教育を受ける。パリ・ヴァル・ド・マルヌ建築学院に在籍後、国立工業デザイン高等学院（ENSCI）に入学。エルメスやフランスのデザイン家具のチナなどの仕事を手がける。デザイナーとして5年間の共同制作の後、単独での活動を開始。2014年9月～12月、ヴィラ九条山のレジデントとして滞在。

本展覧会は、ニュイ・ブランシュ KYOTO 2015 参加展覧会の為、当日（10月3日）のみ開場時間を延長しております。

清課堂は金属という素材を通じ、文化・技術を学び金属工芸界がより豊かになることを目的とし、さまざまな国との交流を続けています。
以前から交流があるフランス・パリと姉妹都市である京都市ではNUIT BLANCHE KYOTOが開催され、今年も清課堂ではフランス人アーティストを迎えて参加しております。

※ NUIT BLANCHE：フランスのパリで毎年秋に開催される一夜限りの現代アートの祭典

“Poésies blanches, inspirations du jardin japonais”

“The stillness of the garden concealed by winter. The light from the heavens reflected on the the frigid snow-covered ground”.
Poésies blanches is an exhibition of Manuela Paul-Cavallier who stayed in Kyoto during the shifting of the seasons from Autumn to Winter.
She expresses in gold-leaf work her mood on experiencing Japanese gardens in winter.This was the rich poetic world that she experienced.

Gold leaf and tin illuminated in the light, contrasting with the shadow which it forms.
Manuela Paul-Cavallier was inspired upon seeing this spectacle, and a collaboration between herself and Seikado began by welcoming in designer Goliath Dyèvre
(who was at the same time in residence at Villa Kujoyama) and the lamp piece was born.

With the support of the FONDATION FRANCO-JAPONAISE SASAKAWA,
this collaborative piece was submitted as the VILLA KUJOYAMA special exhibition into this year’s design festival D’DAYS
and was selected as one of the best 15 works by French design publication AD MAGAZINE.
This is the first time for the work to be publicly displayed in Japan.

Manuela Paul-Cavallier

25 years as creative in wood gilding have allowed Manuela Paul-Cavallier to perfect French and Italian ancestral gilding recipes and techniques.
Recognized by the French Musées Nationaux, she originally used her knowledge as a gilt restorer and now uses it to create contemporary art in Paris.
Her development has followed two paths unfolding around gold Artistic creation: sculpture or painting, she transforms ancestral knowledge into contemporary expressions using raw pigments and gold leaf Creation of gold leaf patinas – she creates gold materials for interior decorators, luxury brands, designers on various supports.  A member of the association “Grands Ateliers de France”and resident at La Villa Kujoyama of the Japan French Institute in 2014.

Participation in NUIT BLANCHE KYOTO 2015

Seikado has continued to converse and exchange with various countries in order to promote the world of metal arts and learn about culture and crafts through the medium of metal. Seikado has a history of exchange with France, and the opening of NUIT BLANCHE in Kyoto, a sister city of Paris, means that this year we are able to once again welcome French artists to participate.
* NUIT BLANCHE: an annual one-night modern art festival held every Autumn in Paris, France.
